Another
problem that keeps on coming up time and time again is the connection of
new equipment into a well planned facility. In most projects, everything goes
pretty well and everything fits just like it is supposed to, except for
one unusually troublesome piece of equipment where the interface flange
provided does not match to its corresponding piece of equipment or
manifold.
The
question always becomes a decision of changing either one or both flanges
or making an adapter. Furthermore, time always seems to be critical and
the machine must come on line to meet an existing schedule or deadline.
In many
cases an adapter flange is an ideal solution to the problem except for
the task of figuring out where to go to get it made and wondering if it
can be manufactured fast enough to do any good.
While
we cannot say that making adapter flanges is a full time job they are
certainly an attractive addition to our normal day to day business. Many flanges are quite standard
and the critical design information can be readily described over the
telephone. Drawings or
sketches can be created relatively quickly and sent out for approval in a
reasonably short period of time.
The only question then becomes the availability of material and
the urgency with which the job
needs to be done.
One
final point that we would like to mention is that base plates and flanges
fall pretty much into the same category of troublesome problems except
for the fact that their shapes and function are slightly different. Flanges tend to be round and
connect components together and equipment base plates tend to be
rectangular and are used as a foundation for mounting equipment securely
or in a particular orientation.
Whichever
problem is facing you and your situation we invite you to call us and
investigate if we can be of assistance to you.
